Apayao logs 2 more cases of Delta variant
BAGUIO CITY––Two new cases of the highly transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 were detected in Apayao province, Gov. Eleanor Bulut-Begtang said Tuesday, Sept. 14.
Begtang cited a report from the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Department of Health in Cordillera, which confirmed the infections on Monday.
She said the specimens of the two patients were among those sent by the municipality of Luna to the Philippine Genome Center for sequencing.
Apayao has seven cases of the Delta variant, most of them detected in Luna and Pudtol towns.
Begtang said the seven cases have fully recovered, although aggressive contact tracing was still underway.
Apayao will be under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until Sept. 30. MECQ is the second most restrictive quarantine classification in the country.
