OLONGAPO CITY––Four nurses of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in this city have started assisting the staff of the city health office in the COVID-19 mass vaccination on Monday, Sept. 13.

The local fire station said the nurses were deployed to the Rizal Triangle Covered Court, one of the two vaccine sites in the city.

The BFP nurses were tapped to help speed up the vaccine rollout for market vendors and public utility drivers who belong to the A4 category or essential workers.

A total of 564 eligible vaccine recipients turned up Monday at the Rizal Triangle.

The city has inoculated 60,300 residents, and 17,404 of them have been fully vaccinated.

The city targets to vaccinate about 182,000 of its 260,000-population to achieve herd immunity.
