SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––Another worker inside the Subic Bay Freeport has died due to complications of severe COVID-19 infection, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) announced Sunday, Sept. 12.

The SBMA said the 51-year-old man was the sixth worker inside the free port to have died due to viral disease. He tested positive on July 20.

Since last year, SBMA has tallied eight COVID-19 fatalities.

At least 16 new COVID-19 cases were added to SBMA’s data on Sunday. They include healthcare workers, government workers, and employees of private companies.

A total of 477 COVID-19 cases have been reported inside the free port since the pandemic broke out last year and 82 of these remain active, while 384 have recovered. INQ
