LAOAG CITY—A man in Currimao town, Ilocos Norte province died after a grenade exploded during a drinking spree on Sunday, Sept. 12, police said.
Investigators identified the fatality as Jomar Herrera, 30, who accidentally removed the grenade’s safety pin.
Herrera was drinking with another man, Rico Santos, when the explosion occurred. It was not immediately known why the victims had a grenade in their possession.
The police said Santos suffered injuries and was taken to Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac City for treatment.
