Rights group protests appointments of Sinas, Parlade
MANILA, Philippines — The recent appointments of former Philippine National Police chief Debold Sinas and retired Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. to President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet strengthen the culture of impunity in the country, human rights group Karapatan said.
On Sunday, Karapatan decried the appointments of Sinas and Parlade as undersecretary under the Office of the President and as deputy director general of the National Security Council, respectively, citing numerous complaints and allegations of human rights abuses against them.
