Occidental Mindoro villages on lockdown until Sept. 25 as COVID-19 cases rise

CITY OF CALAPAN — Some villages in Abra de Ilog town in Occidental Mindoro province were placed on lockdown until September 25, according to its municipal health office.

Since Sept. 11, the regional Inter-Agency Task Force placed Barangays (villages) Poblacion and Wawa proper under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and reported deaths there.

Starting Sept. 12, Barangay Tibag and Balao are under modified ECQ or containment zones.

Meanwhile, the rest of the villages in town are under GCQ.

As of Sept. 11, Abra de Ilog is second town in the province that has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases at 55. On top is San Jose (165) and third is Mamburao (52).

Since the pandemic started last year, the province has logged a total of 2,900 COVID-19 cases, of which 381 are active, 2,417 are recoveries and 102 are deaths.
