More than 69,000 residents in San Fernando City vaxxed vs COVID-19

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—A total of 69,501, or 28.7 percent of the target population, in the City of San Fernando in Pampanga province have been fully inoculated against COVID-19, the city’s epidemiology and surveillance unit disclosed on Friday, Sept. 10.

The city government said the fully vaccinated individuals include 5,746 health workers under A1 priority group, 21,132 senior citizens under A2, 22,878 persons with comorbidities under A3, and 19,727 frontline personnel in essential sectors under the A4 category.

It said 132,576, or 54.8 percent of the eligible population, including 1,327 indigents under the A5 priority group, have also received their first doses of the vaccines and are currently waiting for their second doses.

San Fernando aims to inoculate 242,102 residents, or around 69 percent of its total population of 354,666 based on the 2020 census.

On Friday, the capital city registered 88 new COVID-19 cases, 50 recoveries and a single death. The fatality was a resident of Magliman village.

Active cases in the city stood at 1,719 on Friday. These include Mayor Edwin Santiago, who contracted the coronavirus disease on Sept. 7 and is currently under quarantine.

The city has recorded a total of 9,108 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic broke out last year. Of this figure, 7,138 have recovered, while 251 have died.
