MANILA, Philippines — All local government units (LGUs) are already allowed to vaccinate priority sectors until the A5 group to cover indigents, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. has said.
During a taped meeting of government officials with President Rodrigo Duterte which was aired on Saturday, Galvez said LGUs, even though they are not experiencing a surge in cases, were allowed to start vaccinating until the A5 sector effective September 6.
“Inannounce na po namin para malaman ng mga probinsya na ‘yung A1 to 5 ay open na po effective September 6. ‘Yung mga nasa baryo at probinsya outside of NCR, even though they don’t have the surge, ay pwede na magbakuna ng A1 to A5,” Galvez said.
(We informed provincial governments that vaccination for A1 to A5 sectors is open effective September 6. Local governments in barrios and provinces outside NCR, even though they don’t experience a surge, can vaccinate from A1 to A5.)
According to Galvez, the country is expected to receive over 61 million vaccine doses in September and October. He said that once these doses arrive, the government may already start vaccinating the general population by October.
