Aurora province logs 45 new COVID-19 cases

Aurora province logged has 45 new COVID-19 cases, its highest daily tally since mid-June.

The provincial government said Thursday in its latest bulletin that it registered 10 new recoveries and zero deaths.

The province logged less than 10 cases daily from June 15 to the end of August. Its daily tally increased on Sept. 5 with 38 patients and on Sept. 8 with 32.

Aurora’s active COVID-19 cases stood at 184 as of Thursday.

It has recorded 2,339 cases since the onset of the pandemic last year. Of these, 2,055 have recovered, while 100 have died.

The construction of the P10-million molecular laboratory at the compound of Aurora Memorial Medical Hospital in Baler town was finished late last month. It was funded by the Department of Health.

The provincial government said the facility would begin its operation once the training of its six medical staff members is completed.

It said reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction specimens would no longer be transported to Pampanga for analysis once the molecular laboratory becomes operational.
