Bartolay, a resident of Barangay (village) Danao in San Jacinto town of Masbate, went fishing at around 9 a.m. last Tuesday, just as Tropical Storm Jolina (international name: Conson) was battering the province, and failed to return home.

The Donsol police said Bartolay used a piece of wood to float and survive.

He was brought to a local hospital for treatment.
