Masbate’s missing fisherman rescued in Sorsogon
LEGAZPI CITY — A fisherman who went missing on Tuesday, September 7, in the waters of Masbate was rescued off the coast of Donsol town in Sorsogon on Thursday, police said.
Gilbert Bartolay, 31, was rescued by fishermen near the coast of the village of Ogod in Donsol at around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, the Donsol police said in a report.
Bartolay, a resident of Barangay (village) Danao in San Jacinto town of Masbate, went fishing at around 9 a.m. last Tuesday, just as Tropical Storm Jolina (international name: Conson) was battering the province, and failed to return home.
The Donsol police said Bartolay used a piece of wood to float and survive.
He was brought to a local hospital for treatment.
