SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––The Philippine Coast Guard has launched a search-and-rescue operation for a fisherman in Cabangan town, who was reported missing after venturing out to sea, authorities said on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Champ del Rosario, head of the Cabangan municipal disaster risk reduction management office, identified the fishermen as Elmo Egaloy Jr., 32, of Sitio Macampao, Barangay Arew.

Del Rosario said Egaloy had been missing since Tuesday morning.

The fisherman decided to sail out to sea while the water was still calm at the time, he said.

But the province began experiencing inclement weather on Wednesday evening due to Tropical Storm “Jolina.”
