MANILA, Philippines — The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) launched a mobile app on Wednesday, the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to inspire “unchurched” people to attend the Mass and other activities.

The FaithWatch app was launched to engage Catholics who are active on social media to attend online Masses, read the Gospel, engage in church news, and watch videos about Catholic life virtually.

“But that aside, it wishes to reach out to the ‘unchurched’ populating social media through vlogs and other contents produced and formatted with ‘Missio ad gentes’ in mind,” Msgr. Pedro Quitorio III, CBCP Media Office director, said in a statement.

Quitorio said the FaithWatch App is the “gift to the Church on the 500th Year of Christianity in the Philippines… the ‘missio ad gentes’ in cyberspace.”

The FaithWatch app may be downloaded both on android and IOS devices, according to CBCP.

The app materialized in collaboration with Areopagus Communications, Inc. and Heart of Francis Foundation.
