MANILA, Philippines — Work has been suspended at the House of Representatives as Tropical Storm Jolina continues to ravage parts of the country Wednesday.
In an advisory, House Secretary-General Mark Llandro Mendoza said work is suspended in the lower chamber starting 12 noon, as per the instructions of Speaker Lord Allan Velasco due to “heavy rains are expected this afternoon.”
“All meetings are via Zoom only. Please advise your respective offices,” the advisory states.
As of 10 a.m., Jolina has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kilometers per hour.
Its center was located in the vicinity of Rosario, Batangas.
Several areas in the country—including Metro Manila—have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2.
