Drug suspect wounded during arrest in Kalinga province
BAGUIO CITY––A top drug personality in Kalinga province was wounded during an encounter Tuesday with police in Tabuk City, authorities said.
The police were trying to serve an arrest warrant against Victor Guimba when he retaliated and reportedly engaged the lawmen in a shootout while trying to escape aboard a tricycle.
Investigators said the police fired back while chasing Guimba, who was trapped in a rice field.
Guimba suffered a bullet wound on his body and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Seized from Guimba were 10 marijuana bricks worth P1.2 million, a loaded caliber 9mm Smith & Wesson, two hand grenades, P13,750 cash, a mobile phone, and a bag.
In this city, Francis Dalimot, 22, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly selling marijuana oil to an undercover police officer on Bokawkan road.
