MANILA, Philippines — A total of 18,012 new COVID-19 cases brought the total confirmed cases in the country to 2,121,308 on Tuesday, a slight dip compared to the past four days’ recorded figures which consistently exceeded 20,000.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 18,945 individuals who recovered from the serious respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, reducing active cases to 158,637 and bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,928,173.
Of the active cases, the DOH said 92 percent were mild cases, 3.4 percent were asymptomatic, 1.4 percent were severe, 2.49 percent were moderate, and 0.7 percent were critical.
The department, however, recorded 161 deaths bringing the death toll to 34,498.
The DOH also reported that 76 percent of ICU beds, 67 percent of isolation beds, 74 percent of ward beds, and 58 percent of ventilators are currently in use across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Metro Manila, on the other, occupied ICU beds are currently at 75 percent, isolation beds at 63 percent, ward beds at 74 percent while 64 percent of available ventilators were also being used in the region, said DOH.
The DOH warned that cases may still rise in the following days, reminding people to ensure cooperation with minimum public health standards.
“Ang maagang konsultasyon at pagpapatest ay makatutulong upang maputol ang hawaan sa mga bahay, komunidad, at sa mga lugar na pinagtatrabahuhan,” said DOH.
