BAGUIO CITY–Five villages in Tabuk City in Kalinga province were placed under a granular lockdown from Sept.4 to 16 following a surge of COVID-19 cases in these areas.
Tabuk Mayor Darwin Estrañero issued an executive order to enforce the lockdown in Bulanao Centro, Bulanao Norte, Dagupan West, Dagupan Centro and Agbannawag.
The granular lockdown was recommended by the city health office after recording 78 new COVID-19 infections in Bulanao Centro, 41 in Bulanao Norte, 25 in Dagupan Centro, 26 in Dagupan West and 25in Agbannawag.
Estrañero said the restrictions were also part of the measures to prevent the spread of the more transmissible variants of COVID-19, such as the Delta.
Under the granular lockdown, only people accessing essential service or goods would be allowed outside their residences.
The mayor said individuals who are under 18 years old as well as those who are above 65 years old are not allowed to go out except for emergency and medical reasons.
