TACLOBAN CITY––Police apprehended on Sunday two persons for possession of agarwood in Abuyog, Leyte.
Arrested were Maricar Barroca, 45, a resident of Barangay Santo Nino, Tagum City, Davao del Norte and Asterio Magan, 57, of Barangay Poblacion, Santa Josefa town, Davao del Sur province.
The two were detained at the Abuyog municipal detention facility and were charged for violating the Forestry Code and the Wildlife Resources and Protection Act.
Agarwood is highly valued in making perfume, incense, and traditional medicine, among others.
