Village chair, 2 others nabbed for gambling in Baybay City

TACLOBAN CITY––A village chairman and two other persons were arrested by policemen during an anti-illegal gambling operation Sunday in Baybay City.

Roberto Alojado, 61, the Hibunawan village chairman, was playing “tong-its” around 10:30 a.m. when the police arrived.

Also arrested were Juvy Callej, 52, an employee of the Visayas State University; Gregorio Gonia, 46, a construction worker; and Joselito Dayondon, 55, all residents of Hibunawan.

Seized from them were playing cards and bet money amounting to P1,120, among others.

The suspects were charged for violating the anti-illegal gambling law.
