DOH: Entire NCR, except City of Manila under COVID-19 Alert Level 4

MANILA, Philippines — Except for the City of Manila, the entire National Capital Region (NCR) has been placed under the highest alert level for COVID-19 due to the continuous rise of infections and hospital bed utilization, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said all areas of Metro Manila have logged a positive two-week growth rate, a high-risk average daily attack rate, and a high-risk case classification.

The intensive care utilization rate in Metro Manila is already at 74%, she added.

“All areas except the City of Manila are classified as Alert Level 4. The Delta variant had been detected across all areas in the NCR,” Vergeire said in an online media briefing.

Alert Level 4 means an area has been classified as moderate- to critical-risk and has a healthcare utilization rate higher than 70%.

The City of Manila is under Alert Level 3 ( moderate to critical risk but has a bed occupancy rate lower than 70%).
