MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – The number of active COVID-19 cases in Tarlac rose to 2,211 on Saturday, September 4, the provincial government disclosed.
Tarlac also recorded 166 new cases, zero recoveries and zero deaths on Saturday.
Among the new cases are two 1-year-old girls from La Paz and Paniqui towns. One is asymptomatic while the other showed mild symptoms. Both are under quarantine.
On Friday, Sept. 3, five infants also contracted COVID-19 in Tarlac.
A 1-year-old girl from Paniqui town who developed mild symptoms and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, is confined in a hospital.
Two other female and a male 1-year-old infants from the towns of Concepcion, Moncada and Pura who also contracted COVID-19 developed mild symptoms and are under quarantine.
The fifth infant, a 2-year-old boy from Concepcion, is also in quarantine after developing mild symptoms.
Tarlac has recorded a total of 12,441 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 9,778 have recovered while 452 have died.
