MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has set a cap on its teleconsult program Bayanihan E-Konsulta amid a surge in cases.
The Bayanihan E-Konsulta will now only accommodate 400 patients per day.
“Naglagay kami ng cap in a day para maasikaso namin lahat kasi ‘di na namin kinakaya. Kahit marami kaming volunteers, ‘yung volunteers din mismo gusto nilang magbigay ng parang quality na medical attention sa mga pasyente namin,” Vice President Leni Robredo said during her BISErbisyong LENI program on dzXL Sunday.
(We have set a cap in a day to accommodate everyone because we cannot handle it anymore. Even though we have lots of volunteers, the volunteers themselves want to give quality medical attention to our patients.)
Robredo advised those seeking help to register as early as 8 a.m. to be included in the first 400 patients.
“Ang advice po namin, pasok kayo as early as possible. Bukas na po kami ng eight o’clock,” she said.
(We advise you to enter as soon as possible. We are already open by eight o’clock.)
Robredo shared that prior to the cap, they feel bad for those patients waiting as their conditions became worse or have died.
“Ang problema sa’min, syempre, volunteer-driven kami. Hindi din kami maka-impose sa mga doctor na mag-full time. Apat lang ‘yung full-time doctors namin,” the country’s second top leader noted.
(Our problem is we are volunteer-driven. We cannot force doctors to go full time. We only have four full-time doctors.)
The vice president mentioned that the cap would increase when more individuals volunteer for the program.
Robredo said that the Bayanihan E-Konsulta had an average of 900 messages daily last week.
