TAGBILARAN CITY — The Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) here on Thursday announced that it will only be catering to patients with COVID-19-related symptoms until September 16, 2021.

In an advisory, GCGMH, which was established in 1929, is the province’s only Level III health facility,  said the move was made following a surge of COVID-19 cases in the province of Bohol and the alarming number of detected Delta variants in the region.

All other patients shall be redirected to other hospitals through the Emergency Operation Center of the provincial government.

It will also temporarily suspend all elective surgical and OB-Gyne procedures and ambulatory services during the period.

Further announcements will be provided based on the assessment by the COVID-19 Surge Emergency Response Team.

“Amidst the increasing cases of COVID-19 in our province, we enjoin the public to constantly observe the minimum public health standards — Wearing of Mask and Face Shield, Physical Distancing, and Frequent Hand Hygiene. We also encourage those who are 18 years old and above to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as you can,” the advisory said.
