BAGUIO CITY—Bangued Mayor Dominic Valera and his wife, Vice Mayor Mila Valera, have tested positive for COVID-19, their daughter, Abra Gov. Ma. Jocelyn Valera-Bernos, said on Friday, Sept. 3.

In a statement, Bernos said her parents, who have been both vaccinated against COVID-19, showed symptoms of the disease. Their test results came out Thursday.

The governor appealed to those who have been in close contact with her parents, especially those in the municipal building of Bangued, to inform the Rural Health Unit immediately.

She said this would help speed up contact tracing efforts, adding that the couple’s close contacts must undergo quarantine. INQ
