/ 09:55 PM February 18, 2012

The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Bicol projected more crop losses in the coming days as floods continue to wreak havoc on the region’s farms.

Floodwaters have started to flow from Albay to Camarines Sur, threatening to destroy more crops, according to Emily Bordado, DA regional communications head.

She said a total of 4,122 hectares of farms are now flooded. At least 3,310 hectares of the farms are in the southern towns of Baao and Bula in Camarines Sur which are near the province’s border with Albay.
In Camarines Sur alone, Bordado said the amount of damage could reach P19 million. In Albay, she said at least P2 million in crops were destroyed. Juan Escandor Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
