MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Gov. Dennis Pineda has extended his executive order imposing stricter quarantine rules as the active COVID-19 cases in the province rose to 5,639 on Tuesday, Aug. 31.
The order imposes a liquor ban, curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and strict border controls.
Pineda also allowed component cities and municipalities to declare granular lockdowns within their respective territorial jurisdictions.
In its latest bulletin, the provincial government said 286 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths were recorded on Tuesday.
The province has registered a total of 33,430 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 26,128 have recovered while 1,663 have died.
The numbers do not include the cases in the highly urbanized Angeles City, which is politically independent of Pampanga.
Pampanga’s report showed that the City of San Fernando has the most active cases at 1,479, followed by Mabalacat City with 643, and Guagua town with 497 active cases.
