Man released on bail found beheaded in Bacolod City

BACOLOD CITY – A man was beheaded at about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, in the same spot where a policeman was shot dead in Barangay 38, Bacolod City.

Maj. Ramel Sarona, Police Station 1 chief, identified the victim as Glen Paul Castillo, 42, who was recently released on bail on charges of illegal possession of drugs.

Sarona said investigators were still determining if the head found in Barangay 2 belongs to the headless body found in Barangay 38.

Witnesses said two vehicles with about eight persons on board arrived at Rosario Street and unloaded what appeared to be a human body as they fired their guns in the air.

One person then got out of the vehicle, beheaded the man, and placed the head in a sack and left with it, Sarona said.

The victim was handcuffed in the back. His body suffered gunshot and stab wounds.

“They are still investigating if the beheading is related to the killing of SSgt Joseph Nepomuceno,” Sarona said.

Nepomuceno,  37,  of the police Drug Enforcement Unit was on his motorcycle when he was shot to death by unknown assailants also on board a motorcycle at Rosario Street at about 5:15 p.m. last Sunday, August 29.
