5 kids among new COVID-19 cases in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––At least 89 more COVID-19 cases were registered Tuesday in this province, bringing to 928 its active infections, an official said.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said five children, aged 1 to 8 years old, were among the new cases exposed to a virus-infected family member.

Some of the other fresh cases were 23 citizens aged 60 to 97, Bueno said.

Despite the new infections, the number of active cases was slightly down from 929 the previous day after the province recorded 90 new recoveries.

Bueno said the province’s death toll still stood at 187, with no new fatalities reported on Tuesday.

Since the pandemic struck last year, Zambales has registered 6,098 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 4,983 recoveries.

Healthcare workers were also monitoring some 557 residents who are suspected to be carriers of the virus.
