MANILA, Philippines — Some 15,000 doses of Sputnik V’s Component II, the Russian-made COVID-19 vaccine, arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday night.
The government-procured vaccine doses arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3 at past 10:30 p.m.
The doses are intended to be administered as second doses.
Experts recommend that the two doses of the vaccine be administered 42 days apart.
Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the national vaccine manager, earlier said those who had received Sputnik V as their first dose could have AstraZeneca for the second shot should there be further delays in supply.
The delay in the delivery of Sputnik V is said to be due to “ongoing upgrades and latest developments” on the vaccine.
