MANILA, Philippines — Albay 3rd District Rep. Fernando Cabredo has tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Cabredo disclosed this Tuesday, saying he is experiencing mild symptoms of the disease.

“I am saddened to inform you all that I tested positive for COVID-19, with mild symptoms,” Cabredo said.

“I’m disclosing this to everyone, particularly those who have been in close contact with me, for safety precautions and prevent further transmission of the virus,” he added.

The disease has struck several lawmakers since the pandemic started in 2020. Many of them have since recovered.

The Philippines recorded 13,827 additional COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the total active infections to 145,562.

This is significantly lower than the record-high 22,366 fresh cases logged on Monday. However, the Department of Health (DOH) clarified that the low number of cases on Tuesday is due to the low laboratory output last Sunday.
