Active COVID-19 cases in Zambales soar to record-high 940

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales The total number of active COVID-19 cases in the province has climbed to 940 on Sunday, August 29 – its highest since the pandemic struck last year.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said among the new patients were nine health workers.

The province also registered 51 more patients who have recovered from the disease, pushing the total number of recoveries to 4,852.

It reflected an 81-percent recovery rate out of 5,969 COVID-19 cases logged in the province since 2020.

The province has also registered 177 deaths related to the new coronavirus disease.

Health workers were still monitoring at least 624 suspected COVID-19 cases. INQ
