Whirlwind destroys 5 houses in Negros Occidental village
BACOLOD CITY––A whirlwind at about 4 p.m. on Aug. 27 that hit a village in La Castellana town in Negros Occidental destroyed at least five houses and damaged another dwelling.
La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Mangilimutan said no one was injured.
The mayor delivered food assistance, utensils, vitamins, and health kits to the affected residents in Sitio Old Manghanoy in Barangay Manghanoy.
The local government also sent construction materials worth P7,000 to each family and an additional P3,000.
Mangilimutan said she also gave the affected families rice and P1,000 each from her funds.
