Thirsty Cup men’s, ladies open matches on

The 9th Thirsty Cup will resume today with matches in the ladies open and men’s open at the football field of the University of San Carlos-Technological Center (USC-TC) in Talamban, Cebu City.

USC and Queen City B will be back to try and defend their titles.

Last year, USC won the ladies open title against Xavier while Queen City B battled its sister team Queen City A for the men’s open title.

The men’s open battle will be a spectacle to watch with a record number of 80 teams registering in the category.

The ladies open battle will also be exciting with USC hoping to salvage two of the three titles it won in the girls categories last year.

Last weekend, USC girls 17 failed to retain its title after bowing out in the semifinals against eventual champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC).

The Little Azkals—the Philippine national under 14 team—added to last weekend’s excitement after collaring the boys 14 title against the wildcard entry Magis Eagles in a penalty shootout.

ERCO FC also wowed the crowd with its reinforcement players coming from United Football League’s Philippine Air Force Phoenix, which included Yanti Bersales, a former Azkals.

ERCO FC A teams clinched both the 36-above and 42-above titles. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
