Angeles City logs record high 148 new COVID-19 cases in single-day tally

ANGELES CITY – This city recorded 148 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday (August 28), its highest single-day tally since the pandemic broke out March last year.

In its latest bulletin, the Angeles City government also registered 71 new recoveries and two deaths. The fatalities were residents of Pandan village, which has 103 active cases.

The city government’s previous record-breaking single-day tally was last Aug. 22 with 123 new cases.

This city’s active COVID-19 cases stood at 1,444 as of Saturday.

Some of the villages with high active cases include Sto. Domingo (151), Cutcut (121), Balibago (101), Anunas (77), and Pampang (65).

On Saturday, Cutcut registered the highest new cases at 20, followed by Balibago with 12, and Sto. Domingo and Sto. Cristo villages with nine new cases each.

This city recorded a total of 9,360 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 7,526 have recovered while 390 have died.
