Rain showers, cloudy skies nationwide due to easterlies, ITCZ — Pagasa

Public Weather Forecast Issued at 4:00 AM August 29, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The easterlies and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will trigger rain showers over most parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday.

“Ito nga pong mga kaulapan na nakikita natin sa satellite image ay dulot po ‘yan ng dalawang weather systems na patuloy na umiiral dito sa ating bansa,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

(The clouds that we see on the satellite image are caused by two weather systems that continue to prevail in the country.)

The easterlies will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley and Aurora.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao can expect the same weather condition due to the ITCZ.

The rest of the country, meantime, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to both weather systems.

The country’s coastal waters will be slight to moderate with waves of from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

“Wala po tayong nakataas na gale warning kaya malaya pong makakapalaot ‘yung ating mga kababayang mangingisda pati na rin ‘yung may maliliit na sasakyang pandagat,” Castañeda mentioned.

(No gale warning is in effect, fisherfolk can venture out to sea, even those with small vessels.)
