98 more COVID-19 cases logged in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales At least 98 more COVID-19 cases were reported in this province on Thursday (August 26), raising its total number of infections to 875.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said among the latest cases were a two-month-old infant and six children aged 3-8. The other cases were 10 senior citizens aged 63-85.

The province also reported its first-ever case of the more transmissible COVID-19 Delta variant. The patient is a 2-year-old daughter of a nurse in San Antonio town.

Bueno said 58 more patients have recovered from the viral disease, pushing the number of recoveries in the province to 4,701.

Since the pandemic struck last year, a total of 5,743 confirmed COVID-19 cases were registered in the province, 167 of which died from the disease.
