THE Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko Foundation Inc.-Cebu (KKMKFI-Cebu) held a support group activity for the beneficiaries of its “Pangga-a Sab Ko” program.
Psychosocial activities were facilitated by psychologists from the Association for the Advancement of Humanistic Psychology headed by Dan Alea for the children with cancer and their parents.
The event aimed to help children with cancer as well as their families reduce stress from chemotherapy.
In the afternoon, the children whose birthdays fell in the second half of the year were recognized.
Dance and song numbers were presented for the birthday celebrants.
They also received Christmas gifts from the foundation together with their fellow cancer patients.
The activity held last Dec. 19 at the SM City Cebu Conference Hall was sponsored by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor).
The whole-day event was graced by Dr. Vivina Chiu, KKMKFI-Cebu Health Committee chairperson.
The “Pangga-a Sab Ko” program provides medical and psychosocial support to children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a cancer of the blood.
Support group sessions are conducted twice a year to provide opportunities for patients and their families to participate in learning activities and therapeutic sessions as well as celebrate the gift of life.
The program is sustained through the support of benefactors JEG Development Corp., Alpa Foundation, New Pagcor, SM City Cebu, GMA Network Inc., Cebu city government, International Pharmaceuticals Inc., Simon Enterprises, Department of Education, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and Sen. Vicente Sotto III, through his Priority Development Assistance Fund.
