Dentists eye medical tourism

BANKING on Cebu’s potential for medical tourism, a group of dentists and entrepreneurs invested at least P4 million to set up a dental clinic in a mall.

Dr. Cherrie Ann Lim-Acorin, one of seven founders of Dentaland, said she and her partners saw this opportunity when they set up the clinic in Ayala Center
Cebu.

Dental care services rank number one in demand among other health services not only in Cebu but around the world as well, she said.

“And with the availability of a skilled professional pool of dentists and our affordable rates, we can surely compete,” she said.

“We are way cheaper here and patients get the same quality of service. That’s according to most of our foreign clients,” Lim-Acorin said.

Gino Salvador, a business partner, said Dentaland plans to tie up with the wellness sector to include dental clinics in the travel itinerary designed by the Cebu Health and Wellness Coalition aside from spas and other health and wellness destinations in Cebu.

The group expressed optimism about the clinic with its convenient location for clients.

“We are confident that we can expand in other locations within a year. We hope to still be located in a mall property like Ayala Center Cebu,” said Carmel De Pio-Salvador.

Dentaland has four treatment rooms, an x-ray room and a conference room in a 80-square meter space.
