Pampanga’s capital logs 113 new COVID-19 cases, 7 deaths

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — The City of San Fernando recorded 113 new COVID-19 cases, 48 recoveries, and seven deaths on Wednesday, August 25.

In its latest bulletin, the government of the Pampanga province’s capital city said the number of active cases has already reached 1,271.

Sta. Lucia village reported 15 new cases while Sindalan and Dolores villages reported 14 and 11 new cases, respectively.

The city government said Dolores village has the most active cases at 154, followed by the neighboring San Agustin village with 102, and Bulaon village with 101 active cases.

San Fernando has registered a total of 7,727 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in 2020. Of these, 6,228 have recovered while 228 have died.

Due to the rising COVID-19 cases, San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago issued an executive order on August 18 directing the local police and all village chiefs in the city to establish control points in every village “to regulate and control the entry and exit of persons.”

He also ordered the strict implementation of a curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and the ban on the sale and consumption of liquors in public places.

The mayor also reiterated the requirement for non-Pampanga residents to present current negative results of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction or antigen test before entering the city.
