Four more die from COVID-19 in Olongapo City
OLONGAPO CITY — Four more residents here died from COVID-19 complications, raising to 195 its death toll related to the viral disease, local data showed on Wednesday (August 25).
The new fatalities were aged 55-90 and include a Chinese male resident, according to the local COVID-19 task force.
Data showed that the number of active cases in the city rose further to 535, the highest since the pandemic struck in 2020.
Among these were the 37 new infections recorded on Wednesday, including an 8-month-old baby girl from Barangay West Tapinac.
So far, the city has already registered 3,651 infections since last year but 2,921 of these have already been cleared of the disease. This reflected an 80-percent recovery rate.
According to the OCTA Research, the city is among the areas of concern in Central Luzon due to the virus surge.
The city government has been putting red flags in villages to indicate that these areas have COVID-19 cases.
