DOH logs 16,313 new COVID-19 cases in PH

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) registered 16,313 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the country’s tally of active cases to 131,921.

The active cases compose 6.9 percent of all the 1,899,200 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country. Meanwhile, 91.3 percent or 1,734,551 are recoveries, while 1.72 percent or 32,728 are fatalities.

The DOH said 9,659 more patients have recovered and 236 more have died.

Some 24.9 percent of 65,903 people who were tested were found positive on Tuesday for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the disease.

According to the DOH, all laboratories were operational on Tuesday, but five could not submit their data on time. Based on data in the last two weeks, the five non-reporting labs contribute 4.3 percent of samples tested and 3.1 percent of positive individuals on average.

Meanwhile, 201 case duplicates were removed from the total case count, and 125 cases earlier tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
