MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––Tarlac recorded 188 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Aug. 25, the highest single-day tally in the province since the pandemic began last year, local data showed.
Tarlac’s active COVID-19 cases rose to 1,571 on Wednesday from 945 10 days ago.
The province registered 97 recoveries and four deaths on the same day. The new fatalities were residents of Tarlac City and the towns of Mayantoc, Paniqui, and Victoria.
Tarlac has registered 11,007 COVID-19 since last year. Of these, 8,998 have recovered while 438 have died.
The capital Tarlac City has the most active cases at 525, followed by Capas town with 188, and Victoria town with 139 active cases.
At least 145,256 residents of Tarlac City and different towns of the province have been fully inoculated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday.
The number represents 13.8 percent of 1,052,000 target individuals for vaccination to achieve herd immunity.
All local governments in Tarlac have yet to vaccinate frontline workers in essential sectors under the A4 priority group due to insufficient vaccines.
