SY 2021-2022 enrollment reaches 9 million registrants
MANILA, Philippines — Enrollees for School Year 2021-2022 surpassed nine million nationwide, the Department of Education (DepEd) reported on Thursday.
Based on DepEd’s enrollment figure, a total of 9,197,265 students have registered for basic formal education as of this Thursday, 2 a.m.
The number is 35.1 percent of last school year’s enrollment of 26,227,022 students.
Of the figure, 4,385,985 were enrolled in public schools, 247,874 in private schools, and 6,079 in state and local universities and colleges. Meanwhile, 4,557,327 were early registrants.
Calabarzon maintained its place as the region with the highest number of learners at 1,549,432.
Article continues after this advertisementCentral Luzon and Metro Manila followed Calabarzon with 887,417 and 874, 035 enrollees, respectively.
Article continues after this advertisementOn the other hand, the Cordillera Administrative Region has the lowest enrollment rate with only 157,122 students listed.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Mimaropa came after CAR with 270,227 and 270,655 logged enrollees.
The enrollment will end on September 13, the first day of the school year. Blended learning will continue to be implemented amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
