NCR tops list of areas with new COVID-19 cases on Aug. 25 — OCTA

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila recorded the most number of new COVID-19 cases in the country on Wednesday, according to OCTA Research.

The country recorded 13,573 additional COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, raising the count of total active cases to 125,378.

According to a tweet from OCTA Research fellow Guido David on Thursday, Metro Manila topped the list with 3,627 infections, followed by Cavite (1,281), Laguna (779), Cebu (733 cases) and Pampanga (626)

The quarantine status in Metro Manila was reverted from enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to modified ECQ which is in effect until the end of August.  

The Philippines is seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases due to the highly transmissible Delta variant.

The country logged 18,332 additional cases on Monday—the highest ever single-day increase since the onset of the pandemic.
