Quezon-based film director Felino Tañada passes away

LUCENA CITY – Quezon film director Felino Tañada died from COVID-19 complications in a private hospital in Lucena City on Tuesday night, August 25.

“He died from COVID-19. He was confined in a hospital for almost a week,” according to a close relative of Tañada who requested not to be named for lack of authority to speak to the media.

No other details were made available.

Tañada’s Facebook page was flooded with posts of expressions of grief from his friends, associates, and relatives.

Tañada, 68, who was single, is survived by a sister. His three other siblings had all passed away.

Tañada was known as a television and indie film director who is remembered for his classics “Hermano Puli: Ang Kasaysayan ng Isang Bayani,” “Fausta” and “Buenavista” that tackled heroism, history and culture in Quezon province.

He was a recipient of the “Natatanging Anak ng Lucena” awards in the field of Arts.
