NCRPO chief welcomes 709 new recruits

MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) swore in on Wednesday 709 new recruits in a ceremony at its headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig.

Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., the NCRPO chief, administered the oath to the recruits who would soon undergo the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) for six months at the National Capital Region Training Center and Cordillera Administrative Region Training Center.

After the course, they will go through another six months of field training, which will expose them to police science, combat and tactics, operations, and traffic procedures, among others,.

In his speech, Danao congratulated the recruits for being the “chosen few.”

“I hope when the time comes, you will all be members of ERA. A time of real change is what our organization needs. When I say ERA, that means always be an example, responsible, and accountable police officer,” Danao said, speaking partly in Filipino.

“In so doing, you would always be giving Serbisyong TAMA — tapat, may tapang at malasakit sa sambayanang Pilipino,” he added.

The acronym TAMA is also the Filipino word for “right,” and the words that compose it stand for “honest, with courage and concern for the Filipino people.”
