QCPD nabs drug suspect; P680,000 worth of ‘shabu’ seized
MANILA, Philippines — At least 29 sachets of “shabu” approximately worth P680,000 were seized from a man considered as a “regional priority suspect,” the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported Wednesday.
The QCPD said officers from its Holy Spirit Police Station and Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a buy-bust operation at the residence of suspect Leonardo Madarang in Barangay Bahay Toro, Project 8.
According to QCPD, the sachets of suspected illegal drugs had a combined weight of around 100 grams.
Police also recovered from the suspect the P500 bill used to buy the shabu as well as nine pieces of P1,000 bills believed to be the boodle money. A pouch and a sling bag, and a weighing scale were also recovered from Madarang’s residence.
QCPD said the suspect already had previous cases for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is again expected to face charges for violating Sections 5 (Sale of Drugs) and 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs of R.A. 9165.
