Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo City swell to record-high 530

OLONGAPO CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the city further increased to 530 on Tuesday (August 24) after 32 new infections were added to the list.

It was the highest number of active COVID-19 cases ever recorded in the city.

According to the local COVID-19 task force, the new cases raised to 3,614 the city’s total number of infections since last year.

Only six virus-infected patients have recovered from the disease on the same day, bringing to 2,893 the city’s number of recoveries. It still reflected an 80-percent recovery rate.

No new deaths related to COVID-19 were recorded on Tuesday. Its death toll remains at 191.
