House adopts reso awarding Medal of Distinction to Petecio, Paalam and Marcial
MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives adopted Wednesday the resolutions seeking to confer the Congressional Medal of Distinction to the three Filipino boxers who bagged medals at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics.
During Wednesday’s session, the lower chamber adopted House Resolutions No. 2093, 2122, and 2116 congratulating and commending boxers Nesthy Petecio, Carlo Paalam, and Eumir Marcial.
Petecio bagged a silver medal in the women’s featherweight division, while Paalam won a silver medal in the men’s flyweight division.
Marcial, meanwhile, took home a bronze medal in the men’s middleweight division.
The Congressional Medal of Distinction is given to Filipino achievers in sports, business, medicine, science, and other fields.

The House has earlier adopted a separate resolution conferring the Congressional Medal of Excellence on weightlifter Diaz who gave the Philippines its first-ever gold medal in the Olympics.
