ILIGAN CITY — Former Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Erasmo B. Damasing died on Tuesday night (Aug. 24). He was in his early 80s.
Damasing’s death was confirmed by his son, Eric.
Cagayan de Oro City information officer Maricel Casiño-Rivera said the former official died at past 7 p.m. on Tuesday “due to heart-related problems and their complications.”
A lawyer who is known to his associates as Jun, Damasing represented the then lone district of Cagayan de Oro at the House of Representatives from 1992 to 1998.
Prior to this, he was vice mayor of the city from 1984 to 1992.
Rivera recalled that Damasing also used to head the COC Broadcasting Network which operates radio station dxJR and television outfit TV39.
“He was a man of honor and integrity,” Rivera said of Damasing.
The announcement from Damasing’s family said that due to the coronavirus pandemic, there are no scheduled prayer services and eulogies, as well as the offering of floral wreaths. Ryan D. Rosauro, Inquirer Mindanao
