MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 cases are now at 127,703 as the Department of Health (DOH) confirms 12,067 additional cases on Tuesday—a lower figure due to low laboratory testing output last Sunday.

The DOH said the active cases comprise 6.8 percent of all the 1,869,691 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country since the pandemic started last year.

“The relatively low number of cases today is due to lower laboratory output last Sunday,” the DOH said in its report.

Meanwhile, the agency also recorded 14,565 more recoveries, raising the number of COVID-19 survivors to 1,709,724. Another 303 patients have died, taking the death toll to 32,264.

According to DOH, 24.9 percent of 45,593 people who were tested for coronavirus were found positive on Sunday.

All laboratories were operational on Sunday but 10 were not able to submit their data on time. The non-reporting labs contributed 3.9 percent of samples tested and 4.4 percent of positive individuals on average in the last two weeks.

The DOH also removed 22 duplicate entries, including 15 recoveries, from the total case count. A total of 161 cases earlier tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

COVID-19 cases have increased to 10,000 again as the Department of Health confirms more cases of the highly transmissible Delta variant. The country recorded 18,332 additional cases on Monday—the highest ever single-day increase since the onset of the pandemic.
